If you are a litigation paralegal, then you probably have been asked to track down a person or two.  Often we need to find a crucial witness to a case.  Sometimes we are looking for someone who owes the firm money or is a potential defendant.  In my current part time job, I try to find people who have moved away and don’t know they are entitled to pension benefits.

Whatever the reason may be, I think ZabaSearch is worth visiting when you need to find someone without paying a fee.  You can search by name and last known state.

Hints & Highlights

  • Results are listed by relevancy.
  • Results often show a birth date and the date the address was recorded.
  • Much of the info is outdated because the records go back 10 years.
  • Vary your search strategy.
  • Try searching with and without the middle initial.
  • Try searching ”all states” as well as individual states.
  • Limit results to a particular city when the name is common.
  • When you have a few leads, follow up with WhitePages for confirmation.

All in all, I think this a useful people finding site that you can use for free.  I suggest first searching your own name (and some friends and family) to get a feel for how the site works and the accuracy of the results.
